Men's Tennis Releases Daunting 2021-22 Schedule

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis team released its full 2021-22 schedule on Thursday.

The Waves will compete against 10 NCAA Tournament teams from 2021, including a national semifinalist (Texas) and a national quarterfinalist (USC). Overall, Pepperdine will play seven schools that won an NCAA Tournament match last season. Pepperdine enjoys the luxury of only leaving the Pacific Time Zone once, heading to Oklahoma for matches against Oklahoma State and Tulsa in February.

Highlights of the home schedule include Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Penn, Harvard and Texas all making trips to Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in the non-conference slate.

Pepperdine has been selected to participate in the ITA Kickoff Weekend January 28-29, heading to USC along with Denver and Harvard. The winner of that event moves on to the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships at the University of Washington in February.

Head coach Adam Schaechterle said: "We believe in our guys. Our schedule is a gauntlet from the first weekend forward. These are the heavyweight battles we promised our players during the recruiting process. The competition will make us better, and I know the boys are looking forward to showing how they compete."

The Waves return six players from an NCAA Tournament team last season, where they advanced to the second round after defeating UC Santa Barbara in the first round. Four newcomers join the squad this season, as Schaechterle welcomes two graduate transfers, an undergraduate transfer and a freshman to the fold.
