CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Victoria Flores finished her run through the consolation draw of the ITA All-American Championships with a runner-up finish on Sunday, falling in straight sets to Princeton's Victoria Hu, the #9 ranked newcomer this year by the ITA.
Â
After dropping her first main draw match to Sarah Hamner, a finalist in the singles championship, Flores (Fort Dodge, Iowa) rattled off three wins in the consolation draw, all against ranked foes, including two ranked inside the top 30 nationally -- number #19 Lea Ma and #28 Chloe Beck.
Over the course of the week, the Waves – in both singles and doubles – went 21-10 with 18 wins over ranked opponents.
"This week was great for our team to get competitive matches where we see our improvements and which areas need work," said Head Coach Per Nilsson.
