#1 Lahey Adds Academic All-American to Awards List

AUSTIN, Texas – The top-ranked tennis player in the country was awarded yet another accolade, as Ashley Lahey of the Pepperdine women's tennis team received CoSIDA Academic All-American first team honors on Friday.

The senior sports medicine major succeeded in both the classroom and on the court, posting a 3.955 cumulative GPA while also going 26-1 in singles play in the fall and spring seasons combined and reigning as the first-ranked player in women's singles.

Lahey is the 15th Pepperdine student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, continuing a streak of Waves honorees for the fourth straight year and is the fifth Pepperdine athlete to make the first team. She is also the second women's tennis player to earn the honor after Anna Brunstrom in 1991.

Though she has completed her senior year in Malibu, Lahey will return for one last season in the wake of the COVID-19 cancellations to help lead a star-studded 2020-21 women's tennis roster, which added four new faces over the summer.
