LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Both Pepperdine basketball squads were represented on the All-Tournament teams at the conclusion of the West Coast Conference Championships today, with Hannah Friend making the women's team and Colbey Ross being selected on the men's side.
 
Friend (San Clemente, Calif./Sacramento State), a graduate transfer guard, averaged 18.7 points over three games as the Waves made it to the WCC semifinals for the second straight year. Friend led the Waves in scoring at all three games, including a tournament-high 26 points in Friday's second-round contest against Saint Mary's. She also scored 15 in the quarterfinals against BYU and 15 in the semifinals against San Diego. Friend also averaged 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 1.3 steals and 1.0 assists.
 
Ross (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest HS), a junior guard, had the second-highest scoring game in WCC Tournament history when he poured in 43 points in the Waves' double-overtime loss to Saint Mary's in the quarterfinals. Coupled with his 18 points in the WCC second round against Santa Clara, Ross averaged 30.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in the two games.
 
Last year, Ross became Pepperdine's first men's player to make the WCC All-Tournament team since 2002. Now, he's the first Wave to make it in consecutive seasons since Dana Jones and Damin Lopez in 1993 and 1994. Ross has scored 171 career points at the WCC Tournament, #2 all-time for Pepperdine behind Jones' 183.
