RANCHO PALOS VERDES, California – The Pepperdine women's golf team had another solid showing during Tuesday's final round at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, the first tournament of the spring season.
After a rough start on Sunday, the Waves bounced back the next two days, moving up two spots on the leaderboard after each round, and finished in 12th place with a total of 886 (307-289-290) at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The tournament boasted a remarkable field with all of the top seven teams in the country according to Golfstat rankings, as well as 12 top-25 teams. All 11 teams that finished ahead of Pepperdine were ranked better than the #44 Waves, and 10 of the 11 were in the top 20. The Waves earned head-to-head wins over such teams as #7 Arizona and #18 Vanderbilt.
PLAYER SCORES
- Senior Momoka Kobori (Rangiora, New Zealand) tied for 16th place with a 1-over 214 (71-73-70). Her 1-under round included five birdies today, including two of her final three holes. It's her fourth top-20 finish in five tournaments this season.
- Freshman Alexa Melton (Covina, Calif./South Hills HS) tied for 36th at 221 (74-72-75). She had two birdies today.
- Junior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom/Florida Tech) tied for 49th at 224 (81-69-74). She had two birdies on Tuesday.
- Sophomore Sifan He (Shanghai, China) was 78th at 233 (81-75-77). She had two birdies today.
- Freshman Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i/Maui HS) was 79th at 234 (84-79-71). She had four birdies during her even-par round today.

Pepperdine's second spring tournament is its own Bruin Wave Invitational, set for February 24-25 at San Luis Obispo Country Club.
