Cross Country Earns 14 WCC All-Academic Honors

MALIBU, California – Four student-athletes of the Pepperdine men's and women's cross country team received West Coast Conference All-Academic first team honors, and a total of 14 Waves collected academic honors from the conference this week.
Senior Tatum Rask received All-Academic first team honors for the third time in her college career. She was joined by Cori Persinger, Jackson Felkins and Karl Winter.
To qualify for WCC All-Academic consideration, runners must have at least a 3.2 grade-point average, have at least sophomore standing and have competed in at least half of the meets this season.

Rask, a senior mathematics major, possesses a 3.88 grade-point average. This is her third time receiving this award. She is joined on the women's side by senior Persinger, who is a Hispanic studies major with a 3.93 grade-point average. Persinger currently sits at 12th on the Waves' all-time 6K performance list.

First-team honors for the men were received by Winter, a sophomore journalism major, with a 4.00 grade-point average and Felkins, a sophomore philosophy major with a 3.84 grade-point average. Winter and Felkins were two of the top runners this season. Winter currently sits at the #3 spot on the all-time 8K performance list and #5 on the 10K list. While Felkins takes the #5 and #2 spots in each, respectively.

Four Pepperdine women earned WCC All-Academic honorable mention status: senior Izabela Garcia-Arce (Bonita, Calif./Bonita Vista HS) and sophomores Annelies Ondersma (Gross Pointe Woods, Mich./University Liggett School), Key Pearson (Bainbridge Island, Wash./Vistamar School) and Riley Wright (Chandler, Ariz./Corona Del Sol HS).

Four Pepperdine men made honorable mention: senior Jalen Frantal (Westerville, Ohio./Westerville Central HS), juniors Alex Egan (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS) and Preston Gromer (Casper, Wyo./Kelly Walsh HS) and sophomore Kyle McCabe (Westminster, Colo./Holy Family HS).

Garcia-Arce earned her third straight honorable mention nod, as well as Eagan and Gromer's second.
