SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team fell Friday afternoon at WCC foe San Francisco in a nail-biter, 4-3.

The Waves came out fighting in doubles, as the pair of Enrique Luque Rico and Corrado Summaria beat their USF opponents Ricklis and Romeo 6-2 to even the doubles score to 1-1. It was San Francisco that eventually won the doubles point, however, winning on courts one and three.

In singles, Pepperdine attempted a comeback with Matias Sborowitz winning first on court four over opponent Huynh 6-2, 6-3. Sborowitz has won 11 out of his last 13 singles matches, only dropping one WCC matchup against Gonzaga.

Tim Zeitvogel defeated Romeo 6-3, 6-2 to even the score out at 2-2 overall, as Pawel Jankowiak followed suit, taking his match against Woodland into three sets but eventually winning out 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to put the Waves even once again at 3-3.

Despite the fight, the Dons took court one in three sets to clinch the match 4-3 over Pepperdine.

NEXT UP
The Waves head to Santa Clara for an 11 a.m. match time against the Broncos for the conclusion of WCC regular-season play. Next weekend, Pepperdine will look to make a run in the WCC Championships in Claremont, Calif. starting on Thurdsay, April 25th with times and opponents still to be determined.
