MALIBU, Calif. – The #5 Pepperdine beach volleyball team was felled in a solo dual at Merle Norman Stadium on Thursday afternoon, dropping 4-1 to #2 USC.
Melanie Paul and
Simone Priebe highlighted with a first flight win for the Waves (16-7) over Laurel Kujan and Hannah Martin, finishing with a 21-17, 21-15 final line against the USC (22-4) pair. After splitting the first flight, the Waves were defeated on three courts in the second flight to end the dual.
The Waves will celebrate senior day prior to the first dual on Saturday, April 13 at approximately 9:45 a.m.

MATCH RECAP
In the first flight, the Trojans took court three in two sets, despite a strong second set comeback attempt by
Maddie Dilfer and
Nikki Lyons. On court five, the freshman duo of
Melanie Paul and
Simone Priebe were unstoppable, commanding a 21-17, 21-15 win over Laurel Kujan and Hannah Martin to split the score heading into the final set.
USC then came out strong in the second flight, taking two set wins on court one and two, although both Waves pairs played with valiant effort. On court four,
Skylar Caputo and
Alexis Filippone went to three sets against Joy Dennis and Maja Kaiser, but eventually fell in the third to close the dual 4-1 in the opposition's favor.

Next, the Waves host senior day at Zuma Beach with the final pair of regular season matches against #7 Cal Poly and #12 Cal on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
