TEMPE, Ariz. – The #5 Pepperdine beach volleyball team closed out the ASU Invitational with a 3-2 victory over tournament host Arizona State on Saturday afternoon.
The Waves (14-6) picked up wins on courts five and one before
Alexis Filippone and
Skylar Caputo clinched the overall on court three with a pair of 21-15 sets.

In the first flight, each side took a match with
Michael Kasper and
Melanie Paul collecting the first Waves victory of the day with a 21-17, 16-21, 15-8 set win over Emily Anderson and Lauren Weintraub on court five.
In the second flight,
Brook Bauer and
Heidi Dyer finished first with a 21-15, 21-9 commanding win over Ashley Wenz and Nat Braun in the No. 1 position.
Alexis Filippone and
Skylar Caputo then clinched the overall with a pair of 21-15 set wins over Katie Cross and Cierra Flood on court three. ASU would pick up the final win in a three-set battle on court two.
