COLFAX, Washington – The Pepperdine men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA West Regional on Friday. The men had their best finish in school history, placing 13th out of 28 teams in the region. Their previous best finish was last year when the team placed 15th.
Â
The men were led for the first time this season by sophomore Jackson Felkins who finished the 10K in a time of 31:02.9. Felkins was followed by Karl Winter, Kyle McCabe and Justin Touhey all of whom had personal records on the day and moved their names up on the Pepperdine all-time performance list. Winter's time of 31:23.0 moved him from #6 to #5, McCabe etched his name into the list for the first time at #6 and Touhey improved the time on his #10 spot.
Freshman Skyler Danley once again led the Waves on the women's side. The women finished the day in 34th place.

Pepperdine Head Coach Sylvia Mosqueda said: "The Pepperdine men and women ran the race they needed to at the right time. The men had their best placing ever at 13th because they were ready for a good race today. They had a good summer training program and they trained really hard this fall so they could peak at the right time, which was the plan.
Â
These men are young and are very consistent and disciplined as athletes and students. They had a great 10K performance despite the fact that it was cold and raining and I am a very proud coach.
On the women's side, they all ran very solid and did their best in very cold weather conditions. I'm very proud and happy to be the coach of these Pepperdine athletes. It was a great day today!"
