MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's tennis team went 3-1 in singles and won both doubles matches on Friday afternoon through the quarterfinal round of the Women's Collegiate Invitational at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.

RECAP
In a tournament filled with top-ranked opponents, the Waves were unphased. Beginning in doubles play, the pair of Ashley Lahey/Lisa Zaar defeated their Vanderbilt opponents 6-3 followed by the ninth-ranked pair in the country, Jessica Failla and Anastasia Iamachkine, who beat Chen/Bilokin of Duke 6-4.

In the Orange singles bracket, #14 Lahey took the match over the #37 player Vivian Wolff of Georgia 6-4, 6-1. For #32 Failla, however, the quarterfinal round was no small task, as she was assigned the sixth-ranked player in the country, Stanford's Michaela Gordon. Failla felt no pressure and took the match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to advance into tomorrow's semifinals. Iamachkine dropped to #13 Marta Gonzalez of Georgia 6-4, 6-4, but will continue her run in the consolation bracket Saturday afternoon.

In the Blue bracket, freshman Lisa Zaar took her match against Florida State's Nandini Das into three sets, going down 3-6 in the first but rallying 7-6(4) in the second to put some momentum on the third set, winning 6-2.
