LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's tennis team opened West Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling to Loyola Marymount 4-1 at the LMU Tennis Center.

The Waves (3-11) captured the doubles point, but could not capitalize as the Lions (11-2) won four singles matches to take the victory.

MATCH RECAP

The Waves played really strong tennis in doubles, getting victories on courts one and three. On court three Scotland Garapedian and Yusuf Khamis dominated Diego Nava and Errol Smith 6-1. Dane Esses and Lautaro Pane teamed up on court one for a 6-3 victory over Gabriel Diaz Freire and Nick Borchenko to clinch the point for the Waves.

In Singles, Brian Berdusco forced a third set, winning the second 6-4 after losing his first set against Lucas Moreno 3-6. Berdusco trailed 1-0 in the third when the match was clinched on a different court. Khamis was down 5-6 in the second set on court two against Lukas Moenter when the match was clinched. The Lions picked up wins on courts one, three, five and six to take the match.

The Waves continue WCC play on Friday, traveling to Stockton to take on Pacific at 1 p.m.
