Pepperdine Dominates Pacific 4-0 at Ralphs-Straus

RESULTS MALIBU, Calif.: The Pepperdine men's tennis team earned the second-straight sweep with a 4-0 victory over West Coast Conference competitors Pacific at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center this Saturday afternoon.

The Waves (7-7, 3-0 WCC) made quick work of doubles with wins on courts one and two, before dominating on courts one, three and six in singles to earn the sweep. Pepperdine is now 3-0 in West Coast Conference action this season.

First in doubles, sophomore Jack Van Slyke (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Laurel Springs HS (Calif.)) and senior Stefan Menichella (Santa Barbara, Calif./University HS) picked up the first Waves' win of the day with a 6-2 victory over Tadiwa Chinamo and Akram El Sallaly on court one.

Senior Guilherme Hadlich (Balneário Camboriú, Brazil/Colégio Energia) and sophomore Gabriel Sidney (Curitiba, Parana, Brazil/Anglo Americano) then clinched the doubles point with a commanding 6-1 win over Ross Watson and Miguel Diaz on court two.

The winning ways continued in singles action, as Pepperdine garnered straight-set wins on courts one, three and six.

Hadlich was the first to finish on court one with an uncontested 6-0, 6-0 victory over Tadiwa Chinamo. Hadlich is now on a two-match winning streak and he earned his seventh win in the No. 1 position for the Waves today.

Freshman Dane Esses (Houston, Texas/Memorial HS) then put down Nathan Hampton on court six with a 6-2, 7-5 result for his fifth-consecutive win. He has gone 9-3 playing in the No. 6 position for the Waves so far this season.

Junior Lautaro Pane (Puerto Madryn, Argentina/SEADEA) clinched the second-consecutive match for the Waves this afternoon on court three, besting Ross Watson with a 6-2, 6-4 final mark to propel Pepperdine to victory. He has now won two-straight and his third when playing in the No. 3 position.
