
WCC Cross Country All-Academic Teams Recognized

MALIBU, California " Ben Fox and Nick Heath earned spots on the West Coast Conference's All-Academic first team for men's cross country today, while four other Waves earned honorable mention notice.
Fox (Colorado Springs, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain HS), a senior physics major, made the first team for the third year in a row. He's just the third Pepperdine men's runner to achieve that feat. Heath (Scotts Valley, Calif./Scotts Valley HS), a sophomore pre-business administration major, made the first team in his first year of eligibility.
Heath and Fox rank #1 and #3 on the Waves' all-time list in the 8K.
To qualify for WCC All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 grade-point average, have at least sophomore standing and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's meets.
Earning honorable mention status was redshirt junior Nick Blanchard (Portland, Conn./Portland HS) on the men's side and senior Simona Santi (Derwood, Md./Montgomery HS), junior Amanda Stark (Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS) and sophomore Elise Froebe (Lake Forest Park, Wash./Shorecrest HS) on the women's squad. It's Stark's second time receiving honorable mention.
The WCC Championships are tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 28) at Tecolote Shores Park in San Diego. The women's 6K is at 10 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11 a.m. There will be live coverage on TheW.tv.
