
Guillermo Advances at ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Senior Lorraine Guillermo of the Pepperdine women's tennis team remains undefeated this season in singles after charting a win today at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The senior opened the singles main draw with a three-set victory to advance to the round of 16.
Guillermo (Walnut, Calif./Rowland HS), ranked #20 in the ITA rankings, faced #54 Rachel Pierson out of Texas A&M in the first round of the singles main draw. After exchanging sets, Guillermo came through in the clutch and won set three by a 6-3 tally.
The senior will face #43-ranked Maegan Manasse tomorrow in the round of 16. Manasse, a sophomore at Cal, upset top-ranked and top-seeded Jaime Loeb in today's opening round, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In addition to today's singles success, Guillermo and Michaela Capannolo (Melbourne, Australia/Genazzano FCJ College) wrapped action in the doubles qualifying consolation draw on a high note. In just their third match ever together, the Wave pair defeated #21-ranked Lexi Borr and Jessica Wacnik of Boston College, 6-3, 3-6, 10-6.
The Riviera/ITA All-American Championships, held at the Riviera Tennis Club, continue on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
