MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. - The Pepperdine women's sand volleyball team delivered yet another dominating performance today, defeating the College of Charleston 5-0.
All five of the Waves' pairs won in straight sets to improve to 7-0 on the season.
Playing in the No. 1 spot, Summer Ross (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad Seaside Academy) and Caitlin Racich (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS) won their third-straight with a 21-8, 21-9 triumph over Lizzie Theesfeld and Elyse Chubb. Racich paced the offense with 16 kills, while Ross tallied four blocks on defense.
Both Kill Hill (Portland, Ore./Portland Christian HS) and Lilla Frederick (Huntington Beach, Calif./Cornelia Connelly HS) earned 10 kills apiece en route to a 21-13, 21-13 win against Kelly Kolich and Emily Shelton.
Led by 14 kills and three blocks courtesy of Kelly Larsen (Jamul, Calif./Christian HS), she and partner Stevi Robinson downed Andi Zbojniewicz and Kerstin Koehler, 21-17, 21-15. Robinson added 11 kills of her own, along with 10 digs.
Victoria Adelhelm (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Santa Fe Christian HS) and Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) edged Sloane White and Taeler Davis 21-19 in the first frame, before finding their offensive rhythm in set two. Adelhelm and Woolever out-killed White and Davis in the second set 15-5 to emerge with a 21-11 victory.
Pepperdine secured the sweep with a 21-11, 21-18 on court five. Kelli Branning (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton HS) made her season debut with 15 kills, six digs and three aces, while Emily Cook (Huntington Beach, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) added 11 kills and a block to lift the pair past Catey Warren and Emily Neideffer.
The Waves conclude action at the College of Charleston Sand Volleyball Classic tomorrow, March 25, with a dual versus Mercer.
