Freshman Arianna Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) joined Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) on the All-WCC first team in singles. Sophomore Ali Walters (Newport Beach, Calif./Creekside Christian HS) made the second team in singles for the second straight year. Sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) was honorable mention in singles for the second consecutive season, and freshman Marie Zalameda (Los Angeles, Calif./Beverly Hills HS) also made honorable mention.
Bhargava and Zalameda, Pepperdine's #1 doubles team, were named to the All-WCC first team.
Since the All-WCC awards were introduced in 1997, Bhargava is only the sixth Pepperdine player to earn All-WCC first team honors in singles three times. Next year, she'll have a chance to match Bianca Dulgheru as the only four-time first teamers. In doubles, she's also the sixth Wave to make the first team three times, and she can become the second four-time first teamer next year along with Sylvia Kosakowski.
The league's top awards were won by Jennifer Heisner of San Francisco (Player of the Year), Catherine Isip of Saint Mary's (Freshman of the Year) and Lisa Alipaz of Saint Mary's (Coach of the Year).
The #44 Waves (12-13) are hoping for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships. The field will be announced on May 4 and the first and second rounds are at campus sites on May 14-15.
