The #61 Gaels improved to 11-6, while the #54 Waves dropped to 6-12.
Junior Anamika Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) and freshman Marie Zalameda (Los Angeles, Calif./Beverly Hills HS) won the first doubles match at #1, but the Gaels came back to win at #2 and #3 to claim the doubles point.
The Gaels won at #6 and #4 singles to go up 3-0. The Waves got on the scoreboard when freshman Arianna Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) won in straight sets at #1 singles. But Saint Mary's clinched the victory with a win at the #3 position.
Pepperdine won the last two matches to close the gap on the final score. Bhargava won in three sets at #2 singles and sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) won in a third-set super-tiebreaker at #5.
The Waves, who are in the midst of playing their final 12 regular-season matches at home, are back in action on Wednesday (April 7) against Cal Poly at 1:30 p.m.
