PALO ALTO, Calif. - Junior Andrew Putnam of the Pepperdine men's golf team is tied for second place after two rain-plagued rounds of the Stanford U.S. Intercollegiate, while the Waves are in eighth place as a team.

First-round play was stopped midway due to the weather on Sunday, and despite a couple of delays on Monday, all 20 teams were able to complete both the first and second rounds at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course. The third and final round is set for Tuesday.

The Waves were tied for fourth after a first-round score of 287, and moved to eighth after a second-round 289 gave them a total of 576.

Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) had a 2-under 68 in the first round and a 1-under 69 in the second round, giving him a total of a 3-under 137. He is one stroke behind Nick Taylor of Washington. Putnam had four birdies in each round.

Sophomore Josh Anderson (Temecula, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) is tied for 23rd place with a 3-over 143 (71-72). He had four birdies during the first round and three during the second round.

Senior Carl Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) is tied for 37th place at 145 (73-72). Senior Shane Mason (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine HS) and junior Austyn Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep) are both tied for 83rd place at 154.
