Men's Golf Hindered by Rain at Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Heavy rains in the Bay Area on Sunday forced a stoppage in the first round of play at the Stanford U.S. Intercollegiate. Weather permitting, the Pepperdine's men's golf team and 19 other schools will attempt to complete the first round and play the second round on Monday.

For Pepperdine, between nine and 12 holes had been recorded on Golfstat at the time play was halted at the par-70 Stanford Golf Course. The Waves were at 6-over for their round, putting them into a tie for sixth place with USC.

Junior Andrew Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) was 1-under through 12 holes, putting him into a tie for fourth place.

Sophomore Josh Anderson (Temecula, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) was 2-over through 11 holes, junior Austyn Karle (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep) was 2-over through nine holes, senior Shane Mason (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine HS) was 3-over through nine holes and senior Carl Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) was 5-over through 10 holes.
