Because of impending rain in the area, the two schools skipped the doubles portion of the match and went straight to singles. The Waves (4-5) won five matches in straight sets and the sixth via a third-set super-tiebreaker.
Freshman Arianna Colffer (Corona, Calif./Buena Vista) picked up an impressive win against a nationally ranked opponent, beating #81 Ute Schnoy in the super-tiebreaker at #1 singles. Senior Tania Rice (Burlington, Ont., Canada/Robert Bateman HS) dominated #6 singles by the score of 6-0, 6-0.
The Waves stay in Las Vegas to play their fifth straight match away from Malibu on Sunday (Feb. 28) when they meet #30 UNLV at 10 a.m. Pepperdine already beat UNLV once this season, 4-3, in a match played at UCLA on Jan. 30.
