Sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) won her singles match at the #4 position in straight sets and also helped Pepperdine win the doubles point.
The Longhorns won the first doubles match at #3, but junior Anamika Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) and freshman Marie Zalameda (Los Angeles, Calif./Beverly Hills HS) evened things up with their win at #1, and Oates fellow sophomore Ali Walters (Newport Beach, Calif./Creekside Christian HS/UCLA) clinched the doubles point for the Waves with their 8-6 victory at #2.
But Oates was the only Wave to win in singles as Pepperdine fell to 3-5 on the season. Texas improved to 2-4.
The Waves are currently in the midst of a five-match stretch away from Malibu. Next weekend, they go to Las Vegas to meet host UNLV and Denver.
