Pepperdine improved to 3-3 on the season by winning the doubles point and then claiming five of the six singles matches.
Several Waves posted dominating wins in singles. Junior Anamika Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn./Houston HS) won 6-1, 6-1 at the #3 position, sophomore Andrea Oates (Pretoria, South Africa) won 6-3, 6-1 at #4 and senior Tania Rice (Burlington, Ont., Canada) won 6-3, 6-2 at #6.
Rice's victory clinched the match for the Waves, and the only singles win by San Diego (4-3) came at the #1 position after the match had already been decided.
Pepperdine is in the midst of a five-match stretch away from Malibu. The Waves visit #5 Baylor and #26 Texas next weekend.
