Women's Tennis Drops ITA Kickoff Opener

The Waves (0-2) will play in a consolation match on Saturday at 6 p.m. against the loser of today's UCLA-UNLV match.
Senior Tania Rice (Burlington, Ont., Canada) and sophomore Ali Walters (Newport Beach, Calif./Creekside Christian HS) won 8-2 at #3 doubles, though Tulsa then won at #2 doubles. Pepperdine claimed the match's first point when junior Anamika Bhargava (Collierville, Tenn.) and freshman Marie Zalameda (Los Angeles, Calif./Beverly Hills HS) were victorious by the score of 8-6 at the #1 position.
But the Golden Hurricanes (6-0) won two singles matches in straight sets and then won the next two in three sets. The final two singles matches in progress were abandoned.
