Women's Tennis Falls to UCLA in Opener

MALIBU, Calif. - The #40 Pepperdine women's tennis team opened the 2010 season with a 5-0 loss at #12 UCLA on Wednesday.
The Waves (0-1) may get another crack at the Bruins (1-0) this weekend, as they go back to Westwood for the Second Annual ITA Kickoff Weekend. The winner of the four-team event will earn a spot at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships in mid-February. The Waves face Tulsa on Friday (Jan. 29) at 10 a.m., and will face either UCLA or UNLV on Saturday.
Senior Tania Rice (Burlington, Ont., Canada) won the first set of her singles match at #6, but it was one of three matches that weren't finished due to UCLA's victory.
