The Waves dropped to 15-11, 8-5. The Broncos, who also won the first meeting in Malibu, improved to 16-12, 6-7.

Tied 16-16, the Waves scored six straight points (three on kills by Hill) to help them claim the first set. But Santa Clara scored the final four points of the second set to tie the match up, and after the intermission, the Broncos rolled to an easy third set victory. Pepperdine rebounded well in the fourth set, rolling to a double-digit lead at 19-9 and eventually sending the match to a fifth set.

In the final set, the Broncos jumped out to a 3-1 lead, then went ahead 7-3. Pepperdine would get back within one point at 8-7, but the Waves would never get closer than one point as the two teams traded points the rest of the way.

Pepperdine wraps up the regular season at San Francisco on Saturday (Nov. 21) at 1 p.m.
