FULLERTON, Calif. - Pepperdine cross country senior Liz Lyons (Warwick, R.I./St. Mary Academy) led the Waves to the finish line at Cal State Fullerton Titan Invitational Friday night.
Lyons completed the 5K course with a 25th-place time of 19:40, which was her second best mark of the season. Lyons clocked a 19:24 last Saturday at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational.
"This was Liz's final race as a Pepperdine student-athlete and it was super," head coach Robert Radnoti said. "Tonight's performance capped her career in fine form and I'm proud of how far she has come in her four years; a five-to-six minute improvement."
Lyons is on track to receive her undergraduate degree in political science this December and is currently applying to law school.
Junior Mary Stutzman also put forth a solid effort tonight, tying her season best with a time of 20:01.
Pepperdine returns to competition next Saturday, Oct. 31 for the long-awaited West Coast Conference Championships. The meet takes place at the Crystal Springs course in Belmont, Calif.
