Big Meet Awaits Waves XC at Santa Clara

The women's 5K races feature an open at 9 a.m. and invitational at 9:45 a.m. The men's 8K invitational starts at 10:30 a.m. and open at 11:15 a.m.
With the West Coast Conference Championships two weeks away, Pepperdine cross country head coach Robert Radnoti is using this weekend to again have the team train at Crystal Springs for a third time this season before heading back down to Santa Clara.
Radnoti plans to have most student-athletes run through and study the course, but the top-four women runners: Brieanna Carroll (Pusan, South Korea/Pusan American HS), Elizabeth Coe (Fountain Valley, Calif./Fountain Valley HS), Lauren Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton HS) and Chelsea Wishard (Lawai, Hawai’i/Kauai HS) will be treating the workout in more challenging terms before going easier Saturday morning.
“I instructed those four to run as a pack throughout the race,” Radnoti said. “But our next six competitors behind them will be running all out in an effort to make our WCC team.”
Only three spots remain open on Pepperdine’s WCC women's roster with Carroll, Coe, Lodge and Wishard all virtual locks.
The men’s side is more competitive as twelve different guys have finished among the top seven this season, while three: Seth Allison (Canyon, Texas/Canyon HS), Cole Feldman (Carroll, Iowa/Kuemper HS) and Jimmy Kelley (Santa Clarita, Calif./Hart HS) have taken turns leading the Waves to the finish line.

Pepperdine completes its regular season next Friday with a trip to the Titan Invitational at Cal State Fullerton. Races commence at 4:30 p.m.
