Cross Country Ends Season in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. Â The Pepperdine men’s and women’s cross country teams ended the 2007 season with their appearances at the NCAA West Regional Championships, hosted by Oregon at the Springfield Country Club, on Saturday.

Chris Ogle (Tucson, Ariz./Mountain View HS/Arizona), a senior, led the men with his 96th-place finish in the 10k with a time of 32:34. Freshman Conrad Wozniak (Irvine, Calif./Woodbridge HS) was 146th in 34:15 and freshman Seth Allison (Canyon, Texas/Canyon HS) was 167th in 35:31.

“Chris ran the second-fastest 10k time in school history so he did very well,” Pepperdine Coach Robert Radnoti said. “Seth came back and ran a strong race after what was a disappointing race for him at the conference meet.”

On the women’s side, junior Brieanna Carroll (Pusan, South Korea/Pusan American HS) was 94th in a time of 22:18, junior Courtney Young (Encinitas, Calif./La Costa Canyon HS) was 149th in 23:06 and freshman Chelsea Wishard (Lawai, Hawaii/Kauai HS) was 159th in 23:18.

“I’m really pleased with Brie, she broke the school record in the 6k and ran very strong,” Radnoti said. “She set a PR by about 20 seconds so that was really nice. Chelsea also ran strong. She stayed with the leaders as best she could and had a PR by about 30 seconds.”

Overall, the Pepperdine men finished 23rd and the women were 27th.

“It was a great experience for our young runners,” Radnoti said. “We’re looking forward to next year as we continue to improve our program.”
