Q: How are your classes going this semester?
A:“All my classes this year are really interesting because I’m getting into upper division. I’m taking two PR classes, one is PR management and the other is PR campaigns. I’m also taking Communication Ethics, which is really interesting because we’re learning about Aristotle and Stuart Mill and people like that. I’m also taking a political theory class, so I’m doubling up with Aristotle and Machiavelli, so it’s really interesting. All my classes are fun.”
Q: Do you have an idea of what you want to do after you graduate?
A: “No clue. I’m hoping to get an internship with a corporate company that does event planning. In
Q: What do you miss most about
A: “Everything. I don’t know if it’s more that I miss
Q: Why did you choose Pepperdine over other schools?
A: “Well, this is a funny story. I was on this high school volleyball trip, and we traveled the coast of
Q: How do you feel your volleyball game has improved in your three years at Pepperdine?
A: “Exponentially. I came into Pepperdine totally raw. I had some natural talent, and I’m tall, but playing against great teams and great players, and playing with great players helped me a lot. It’s hard not to get better, with the coaching, the training, and all of that. I thought this past spring, something clicked. I just started playing volleyball when I was 15, so I’m late in the game, and my knowledge of the game is still growing. I’m still learning and figuring things out. I’ve improved a lot, and I’m really happy about that. It’s been a good journey.”
Q: How did you become a middle blocker?
A: “I was put there when I first started playing, and I’ve stayed there. It’s where I’m most comfortable. I could’ve played other positions if I had been trained differently, but I love playing middle because there are so many options, but it’s a hard position to play.”
Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?
A: “Allen Iverson. He’s just good, that guy can play. I’m not really that into the NBA, but my mom loved the 76ers, and he was Mr. Sixer. I saw an interview with him, and it surprised me how real he was. He hasn’t let the fame get a hold of him. He seems really in touch with himself and his goals. I was impressed with how he handles himself.”
Q: What is something most people don’t know about you?
A: “I love to color in coloring books. I’m obsessed with it. I bring them on the road with me. That’s something I brought out this year that no one knew about me.”
Q: Who are your favorite bands?
A: “I love Citizen Cope, I like Sublime, I like a lot of classic rock. I love the Police, I like Jazz, I like listening to John Coltrane when I study.”
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: I have a few favorites. I love Life is Beautiful, I love
