Men Finish Third At ASU Invitational

TEMPE, Arizona Â  Chris Ogle’s 15th place finish helped lead the Pepperdine men’s cross country team to a third place showing at the Arizona State University Cross Country Invitational in Tempe, Arizona today behind Arizona (36) and ASU (42).  Brie Carroll led the Pepperdine’s women’s cross country team to a fourth place finish (110 pts.) behind Arizona (29) and University of Texas-El Paso (59) and New Mexico State (70).

Ogle ran a 26:01 over the men’s 8k course. Freshman Conrad Wozniak (Irvine, Calif./ Woodbridge HS) finished in 30th place in 26:51. Freshman Seth Allison (Canyon, Texas/ Canyon HS) was the 39th finisher, covering the course in 27:10. In 42nd place in a time of 27:19, was freshman Eric Magana (Whittier, Calif./ La Serna HS) and rounding out the top five in 44th place with a time of 27:21, was freshman David Williams (Manhattan Beach, Calif./ Mira Costa HS).

“Chris Ogle was our top finisher again. He’s run the course three times before while living in Arizona. He had lots of friends and family here today to support him.” Radnoti said.

Carroll, a junior, (Pusan, South Korea/ Pusan American HS) was the seventh finisher in the women’s 5k race with a time of 18:57. Junior Courtney Young (Encinitas, Calif./ La Costa Canyon HS) finished second for the Waves and 17th overall in 19:28. Freshman Chelsea Wishard (Lawai, Hawaii/ Kauai HS) crossed the line in 34th place in 20:10.0. Finishing close behind in 36th place, was junior Amanda Gordon 20:10.8, followed by Freshman Anna Honig (Fort Wayne, Ind./ Snider HS) in 55th place (21:02).

“We had some good competition and tough conditions today. It was hot and windy, but we had some good performances despite kind of adverse conditions,” head coach Radnoti said. “Brie Carroll was very strong and got an award. Courtney Young was our number two runner and also ran strong. Amanda Gordon and Chelsea Wishard ran together and did well.”

Next up for the Pepperdine harriers is the Kampann Klassic, an open race in honor of former head Coach Dick Kampmann, to be held next Saturday, October 13. Everyone is welcome to participate including parents, students, alumni and friends of Pepperdine.
