Head men's basketball coach for 20 seasons (1948-49 through 1967-68) ... Produced six All-Americans and teams that won four CCAA titles and one WCC championship ... Took teams to NAIA national tournament three straight years from 1950-52 ... After Pepperdine returned to the NCAA level, took the team to the 1962 NCAA Tournament ... Finished with a record of 263-264 and has won more games than any other Pepperdine basketball coach ... Served as the school's athletic director as well from 1955-68, and also taught at the school after he finished coaching ... Firestone Fieldhouse's basketball court is named after him.
