While a fine baseball player at Pepperdine, Dr. Jim Brinton has had an exceptional career filled with service and leadership.
 
Brinton was a three-year member of the varsity baseball team from 1955-57. He played on Pepperdine’s first two baseball teams that advanced to the NCAA District Playoffs (1955 and 1957). His 1955 squad went 1-2 in a tournament in Fresno, while the 1957 team defeated Portland in a best-of-three series before falling to California in another best-of-three series. As a 1957 senior, he batted .293 (39-for-133) with 17 RBI and 11 stolen bases.  He also received the Most Inspirational Player Award in 1957.
 
In addition to being a student-athlete, Brinton was an active member of the student body. He was a member of the Knights, the Letterman’s Club, the Homecoming Committee and the Student Board. He was also a member of Beta Tau Delta and president of the Intercultural Club.
 
He graduated from Pepperdine in 1957 with a degree in biology.
 
Over the years, Brinton has served on the Seaver Board of Visitors and Executive Committee and the Hall of Fame Committee, and is also the founder of the Athletics Advisory Board. He is a Pepperdine Endowed Associate, and he and his wife Lorraine received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1999. Additionally, he endowed the John Scolinos Distinguished Baseball Player Award.
 
He is the President of the Board of Trustees for Olive Crest Homes & Services for Abused Children in Coachella Valley. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine as the Chairman of Development and Public Relations Department in Rancho Mirage. Additionally, Brinton is the past President of the Glenbrook Homeowners Association in Nevada, on the Board of Directors for the Glenbrook Club and a member of the Southwest Community Church.
 
Dr. Brinton is a respected urologic surgeon. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery/Urology at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, and an Orange Coast Urology partner with Donald F. Williams, M.D. Brinton is the Chief of Staff as well as a Chairman on the Board of Directors at Pacifica Hospital in Huntington Beach. He is also a Chairman for the Department of Urology at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.
 
Brinton and his wife Lorraine have been married for 48 years. His future plans include serving Olive Crest, the Weil Institute, his communities, his church, and Pepperdine University in any way that may be helpful.
