Played for two seasons (1958 and 1959) ... Went on to become head coach for five seasons (1963-67) ... Was one of Pepperdine's top pitchers but was also known for his effective play at nearly every position ... Began as a freshman coach before working his way to varsity head coach ... Pepperdine went 75-96 in his five seasons ... His first squad went 26-8, at the time setting the school record for winning percentage (.765) ... His 1963 and 1965 teams advanced to the NCAA College Division Playoffs ... Graduated in 1960 with a degree in physical education and history, and earned a master's degree in education in 1965.
