BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – The Pepperdine women's golf team tied for 12th place against an extremely tough field at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Wednesday, while
Lion Higo tied for 10th place.
The Waves had a two-day total of 897 (296-298-303) at the par-72 University Club. The 14-team tournament featured four top-10 teams, eight top-25 teams and 12 top-50 teams, according to Golfstat. Based on those rankings, the Waves did one spot better than expected, and they picked up a tie against #24 Florida and a win over #12 Georgia.
PLAYER SCORES
- Freshman Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) tied for 10th place with a 1-over 217 (74-69-74). She was 5-over after five holes today, but posted four birdies over the final eight holes to back to finish 2-over for the day. She had a team-high 12 birdies for the tournament.
- Freshman Caroline Hwang (Orlando, Fla.) tied for 39th at 225 (73-76-76). She had three birdies on Wednesday.
- Senior Megan Dennis (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) tied for 47th at 227 (72-79-76). Her final round had three birdies.
- Sophomore Reese Guzman (Kahului, Hawai'i) tied for 50th at 228 (77-74-77). She had one birdie on Wednesday.
- Freshman Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) tied for 72nd at 241 (81-80-80). She scored an eagle for the second straight round (the only player in the tournament to get multiple eagles) and had one birdie.

The Waves won't wait long for their next competition, as they're headed to New Mexico for the Dick McGuire Invitational on Sunday and Monday (April 11-12).
